Me? I am the person, who in her younger years, was in many ways like a nomad gypsy. I traveled and moved often. I was not attached to "things" and became restless if I was in one place too long. I drove a little red truck, had been on my own since I was 17, and lived life in the moment.
At some point, I woke up and discovered I couldn't pick and leave on whim, mainly because I had a mortgage, a good job and a husband. So I cut my extremely long hair, extremely short. I traded out my truck. And that seemed to work for a while. The drastic change tactic. I highly recommend it.
At some point, I woke up again and discovered that I was responsible for a child that wasn't mine. I fell head-over-heals in love with every complicated part of him. Seven years later, I gave birth to my oldest daughter and six years after that, to my youngest daughter. They are my light, and my love for each of their unique selves runs deeper than I am able to express.
I went from cigarette smoking to being smoke-free. From twinkies to whole grains. From regular hothouse produce to local organic. From traditional to natural medicine. From Reform to Conservadox Judasim. From meat eater to vegetarian (or, pescetarian). From wanderer to foundation-builder. From employee to employer. This transformation of me began being cultivated the moment I undertook the "mothering" role.
I am a left-leaning, tea drinking, vegetarian, organic living, breastfeeding, cloth diapering, attached parenting, sling wearing, peace loving Jewish granola mommy in every sense of the word! And proud of it!
The transformation of me is not complete, though. I am ever changing, morphing into who I am destined to be. I may make a lot of mistakes in life, but I am one who learns from them and forever moves in a forward direction.
I welcome you to read my word-summary of each of my children and husband below. Coming up with the perfect three-word description was a challenge but for today, the words seem to fit.
